Ended up going with red for the Whitney Houston Fo

Ended up going with red for the Whitney Houston Foundation gala last night. 🥰

Yesterday, Whitney would’ve turned 59. ❤️ At the dinner, her family and friends celebrated her life while continuing her legacy of philanthropy. It was really such a treat to be in the room.✨

Also: I saw Cece Winans perform “Alabaster Box” live and so, yeah. I’m full.

If you’ve read the intro to my book, you’ll know that my friend’s coworker said this about me when she read my blog. She didn’t understand why people would want to content from me.

Here’s the thing: I am a regular, everyday Black girl. I don’t need to overcompensate to appease to others so they believe I’m more than enough.

There’s joy in not being everything to everyone. We tend to overcompensate when we believe that we’re not enough.

YOU ARE MORE THAN ENOUGH.

Here’s the truth: we’re not designed to be everything to everyone. And when we try to be, it’s a misuse of God’s creation.

You showing up everyday to be your authentic self to do everyday work that matters to your life is more than enough.

Making everyday meaningful, aesthetically pleasing, goal oriented, intentional and consistent is what it’s all about.

That might be regular to ole girl, but that’s MAGIC to me.
