If you follow me on Instagram, you guys know how much I love a standout lipstick. There was a season where you wouldn’t find me without a red lip (it was when Fenty Beauty released their first #STUNNALIP) and without a doubt it’s the number one beauty product you guys ask what I’m wearing whether it’s in a post, Instagram Stories or even a YouTube video.

With it being National Lipstick Day, it gave me the perfect excuse to rave about my go to lipsticks of the moment and be warned – they’re all liquid lipsticks. A liquid lip tends to last longer and most certainly give you better color pay off. And maybe it’s because I create a lot of photo and video content, but that is important to me.
From my favorite red to my go to nude, here are my favorite lipsticks of the moment.
This maybe a naive claim, but this is the best red lipstick I’ve ever worn. It doesn’t transfer (for me personally) and I love how it dries down. It’s bold and makes you stand out for sure. There was a 3 month period where I wore this at least 3-4 times a week without shame. If you ask me what red lipstick you should get, this will be absolutely be the answer.
I was never really into brown or tan lipsticks before I found this gem of a drugstore lipstick. In the past, I always had a hard time finding brown lipsticks that looked good on me or that were truly brown period. They would either be too light, too pink or too gray and it left me discouraged after having hope that something might be the right shade for me. I actually had tried this lipstick in a different shade and absolutely loved and decided to give “Fighter” a chance. It easily passed the previous color as my new fave. And every single time I wear it you guys ask about it. It really is that good.
Wore this purple matte awesomeness this weekend and it is so good. I actually got the Lip Bar Mattie Liquid Lipstick in “Prima Donna” a year ago in a gift bag and have loved it since. It is very, very matte so your lips have to be in good & moisturized shape before you wear for best case scenario results. But if nothing else, the purple is unmatched. It’s deep while being bold and a true matte liquid lip if that’s your cup of tea. It certainly is mine.
I’ll be honest and say nude lipsticks haven’t been my thing of the past because they are usually so hard to find for me. (Said every Black girl ever.) But the queen Rihanna and her Fenty Beauty knocked it out of the park with Unbutton which is the best nude lipstick I’ve ever worn. And while liquid lipstick is my thing because I really enjoy matte finished, this lipstick goes from a 10 to 11 when you top it with the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fenty Glow. Personally, I have purchased all of the Stunna Lip Paint colors on my own, but when I received a Fenty Beauty PR package for Mother’s Day with the Gloss Bomb colors, it changed the way I looked at lipsticks with a glossy finish. Simply put, remarkable. If you’ve been on the hunt for a good nude lip, I encourage you to try the Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint in Unbutton.
Last but not least, is a metallic lipstick that I can’t get enough of: the Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in “Bold Digger.” My favorite Smashbox product is the Always On liquid lipsticks. I usually wore the red and pink hues from the line because those are my go to colors. I was lucky enough to be sent the entire collection from PR and the metallics were always so pretty in the bottle, but that was as fair as it went for me. One faithful day, I grabbed the bronzy metallic because it was just so pretty and it did not disappoint. Funny enough, now my favorite shades to wear from the collection are the metallic colors. The color pay off is generous and long lasting which makes for a winning lipstick combo if you ask me. Get into metallic liquid lipsticks if you haven’t given it a try yet.
Even though these are my favorites, I love trying new beauty products especially lipsticks. What’s your favorite lipstick of the moment?
